Fuengirola on the Costa del Sol in Spain is so accommodating

A popular seaside resort on the Costa del Sol, close to Málaga city in southern Spain, Fuengirola is accommodating in so many ways.

First, there are so many great places to stay on a sunny, beach holiday.  Second, there is that wonderful weather, and third, those gorgeous, endless sandy beaches.

Accommodation in Fuengirola

There is a huge range of hotels, hostels and beach resorts available in Fuengirola, and several beachfront recommendations are on offer on this website.  All offer restaurants and bars, and many offer lively entertainment during the summer months.

While hotels and hostels make for comfortable accommodation, some prefer to go a little more independent, renting an apartment or a gorgeous villa for their home from home on the Costa del Sol.  Panoramic Villas offers a great range of beautiful holiday homes in some the best areas of Fuengirola and other popular resort towns on the Costa del Sol.  The following are some recommended places to be.

El Coto is a quiet urbanization, a short drive inland from the Fuengirola beaches and on the border with Mijas, but with excellent access to central Fuengirola itself.

Surrounded by gorgeous houses, a visitor can live like a Fuengiroleño (Fuengirola local), with the best facilities on offer, including a refreshing swimming pool nestled in that manicured garden.

Torreblanca (which literally means “white tower”) is a delightful suburb of Fuengirola which runs from the beachfront itself, via winding roads up the hill, to a leafy and peaceful area, often offering wonderful sea views.

The suburb has several bars and restaurants available and a selection of shops for those who don’t want to venture too far.

For those preferring to be right in the heart of the action, Pueblo Lopez is a charming re-creation of a typical Andalusian pueblo blanco or white village.  Living like a local in a beautiful townhouse in quiet surroundings, with all the restaurants, shops and beach close by, is an absolute pleasure.

Going as far as Mijas Costa and Mijas Golf, there are many more beautiful and green residential areas just waiting to be explored.

Wonderful weather

Especially to those living in cooler, northern climes, the weather in Fuengirola is great most times of the year.

From around April, the warm spring sunshine starts creeping in, with a couple of gorgeous months leading up to summer.  July and August, the main summer season months, tend to be a tad steamy, which can creep into September.

Late September, October and November, especially during 2014, have been beautiful, with warm, pleasantly sunny weather virtually every day.  OK, sometimes the odd couple of rainy days have crept in, or the coastline has been blasted by a strong wind, but for the most part, as long as one checks the weather forecast, a great late autumn holiday can be enjoyed here.

Winter isn’t really that bad and even in December the braver tourists can be seen strutting around in shorts and “tees” or sunbathing on the beach.

Gorgeous beaches

The beaches vary a little over the course of the year.  However, even in winter, strolling along on the sand at the water's edge is an enjoyable experience.

From late spring through to late autumn, the chiringuitos (or beach restaurants) are open, offering delicious meals, a cooling drink, as well as shady parasols and comfortable sun beds to enjoy the sun.

Once the season is over, however, those beaches just seem to open up.  The parasols and sun beds are put away for the next season and the beaches become a pristine and beautiful stretch of sand to enjoy, lapped by the never-ending waves.

In conclusion, Fuengirola is the ideal spot for a weekend getaway or a full-scale beach holiday, whatever the time of year. There are many attractions on offer - explore this blog to find out more. Go one, spoil yourself!
