Guide: Bioparc Fuengirola - A different kind of zoo on the Costa del Sol, Spain

Right in the heart of this bustling seaside town is an unexpected leafy green oasis of calm.

A must-visit on your trip to Fuengirola, what was once a normal and not particularly nice zoo has become a beautiful and natural place for the various residents to live, grow and produce their young.  Even the endangered species are having babies, so the Bioparc Fuengirola is definitely doing something right.

Entering the premises through an attractive, African-themed building, you can then choose to head off to Africa or Asia on your virtual journey round the world.

Visit the lemurs of Madagascar, living in a realistic and pleasant enclosure, accessed through a very realistic manmade baobab tree.  Tours run every thirty minutes to see this cute and almost tame creatures and their babies.

The various ape species are widely represented in the Bioparc, with favorites being the Gorillas, Orangutans and the friendly and fun Chimpanzees.

Get a close up look at the Nile crocodiles from behind a safe wall of glass, or peer at the ultra-cute meerkats, standing to attention.

Asia has many fascinating occupants to visit including leopards, tigers and more.

Snakes, birds and aquatic animals of all kinds sum up a really fascinating visit!

Of interest to note is that during the summer months, the Bioparc offers African drumming and dancing in the late evenings, for a really authentic feel.

Make a definite plan to visit Bioparc Fuengirola!  You will be so glad you did...
